Herbaceous plants recognized as medicinal are cultivated in special
beds to exposition and replicated to provide to interested persons.
To fulfill the mission of the Garden, an architectural and landscaping study
(Master Plan) was undertaken to cover the following areas, combining conservation
proposals, scientific research, environmental education, recreation and sustainable
architecture. They are:
Administrative Site
: to manage the institution's activities including management,
project developments, human resources, fundraising, maintenance and cleaning.
Visitor and Environmental Education Reception Center
: a space to receive
visitors, thematic exhibitions, to develop environmental education workshops and
an auditorium for events and training courses with a capacity for 75 people.
Laboratory and Herbarium:
Places to develop research on plants and record
regional floristic survey in the form of exsiccates (dried plant material).
Seed Laboratory.
Space destined for the reception of fruits and seeds, processing,
registration and preparation for germination.
Cafeteria.
To provide a more comfortable and pleasant visit.
Public toilets.
To provide comfortable facilities to visitors, including those with
special needs.
The Implantation process and materials used.
To work well the concept of sustainability a survey has been done on the site
focusing on buildings and existing natural features such as lakes, stream and
vegetation cover.
At the main entrance there are three remaining lakes from the old farm and
today they constitute the aquatic plants’ observation area.
Due to the location and landscape interest, these were fully preserved, also
attending to the Brazilian Forest Bill which prevents waterproofing and construction of
buildings on its margins, keeping a minimum distance of 30 meters. Thus, in the
