“ZEMCH Sustainable Design Workshop” became a formal postgradaute course at the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), The University of Melbourne, in 2016. This 5-day intensive engineering design workshop for sustainable housing development in developed and developing countries will be run annually at MSD with the aim to assist / support “traditional” architectural design studio activities where low to zero energy sustainable building design education is neglected or less of consideration. Thus, this ZEMCH Workshop is meaningful, functioning locally/globally as a “knowledge booster” of sustainable design education. For the studio support, the training workshop takes place in the middle of architectural design studio activities carried out normally over 12 weeks or so as opposed to this ZEMCH Workshop, which is only 1 week to learn and experience sustainable design techniques and assessment skills through the multi-disciplinary pragmatic group activities. The workshop utilises the network’s new book "ZEMCH: Toward the Delivery of Zero Energy Mass Custom Homes". Students and tutors at ZEMCH Network affiliated univeristies outside the University of Melbourne are also welcomed to join this workshop.
