of the elements of the house, such as the sunspace, the green roof, the big openings,
the bathing lake (Fig.1).
Figure 1: General view of the CasaZeroEnergy.
The building is tuning with the nature and takes advantages from the nature for what
concerns the energy saving, assuring a more natural life to the inhabitants.
All the functional and constructive solutions were designed in order to minimize the use
of traditional systems for the building heating, adopting passive design strategies, such
as:
•
big south openings to capture the heat of the sun;
•
a well insulated envelope to maintain a comfortable internal temperature;
•
the sunspace, in which solar energy can be stored during the winter season, allowing
to preheat the air that can be used for heating part of the building or the whole one.
Furthermore this element enlarges the livable space with a buffer space.

summer, the sunspace shall be opened for avoiding overheating. In this way the
house is projected outside and the living room becomes a big open space in direct
contact with the garden;
•
the bath able lake, which redirects into the house the sun rays low on the horizon;
•
the building orientation, designed for repairing the house from the cold winds and to
maximize the solar gain.
In the house other passive solutions aimed to realize a natural ventilation and cooling
were designed:
•
the position of the openings to create a chimney effect to improve the ventilation;
•
the shading of the windows to mitigate the entrance of the sun rays;
•
the ventilated roofs and the green roofs to protect the indoor from the hot outdoor
environment;
•
the sunspace to entirely open the building on the fresh garden and to allow the
garden to entering into the house.
