Figure 7: The “serving block”, the “empty environmental space” and the facade system
The serving block, configured as a complex system of multi-purpose devices, is
constituted by reinforced concrete walls, placed with respect to the body of the building
in a transverse position such as to ensure balancing of the inertia of the entire building.
It is easily identifiable and maintainable, and ready to the installation of prefabricated
functional service modules (bathrooms and kitchens). It 's also has spaces intended to
accommodate, where required, vertical interplane connecting stairs, in order to allow the
activation of duplex accommodation.
The externalization of the perimeter of the building structure is solved with a grid square
of beams and steel columns that wraps a shell closing with variable asset.
The latter is composed of two skins independent from the structural system:
1. a skin with inside-outside closing function, consisting of prefabricated panels opaque
and transparent;
2. a skin with obscuration function, made up of local stone fixed panels and sliding
panels of wood slats.
Their independence aims to ensure the absence of thermal bridges and to allow each
user to modify the outer perimeter of the house according to his needs, within
predetermined limits.
The system thus formed ensures maximum liberalization of use of space inside the
house, enabling the possibility of making housing transformable and adaptable to the
actual needs of users.
