Fig.8 shows outside and inside surface temperatures of the roof from 10:00 to 15:00 on
August 4
th
, 2011. Though the outside surface temperature of the roof rises to 60 degrees
C at 14:00, the inside surface temperature in the fourth floor ceiling was 32 degrees C at
the same time. And, the inside surface temperature in the fourth floor ceiling was about 2
degrees C lower than the fourth floor room temperature all the day. It seems that the roof
is storing much rainwater.
Fig.9 shows outside and inside surface temperatures of the west wall from 10:00 to
15:00 on August 4th. Though the outside surface temperature of the outside brick wall
rises to 54.7 degrees C at 15:00, the inside surface temperature in the cafe’s wall was
34 degrees C at the same time. And though, the inside surface temperature in the cafe’s
wall was equal to the cafe’s room temperature, it was 1 or 2 degrees C lower than the
room temperature except 15:00.
Fig.10. shows the surface temperatures of the roof terrace and ceiling of the cafes at
14:00 on August 4th. The outside surface temperature of the roof terrace rose to 55
degrees C, and the inside surface temperature in the third floor cafe’s ceiling was 40
degrees C because the roof terrace consisted of concrete and only one-ply tiles. On the
other hand, the inside surface temperature in the second floor cafe’s ceiling was 32
degrees C although the cafe’s room temperature was 35 degrees C. The water
temperature of the Bio-geo-filter was at 29 to 30 degrees C—e.g. (Fig.11).
