Figure 2: +hytte. Plan and construction of the all-in-one boxes.
The construction of +hytte is characterized by the disposal three boxes placed in row
one after the other. All these boxes are characterized by the same structural frame
dimensioned starting from the dimension of the same panels that are today commonly
tested inside the ZEB laboratory. Inside the dimension of 244,8 x 234,8 cm different
kinds of commercially available material and components are tested at the ZEB-Lab
(insulation, shading devices, special windows/glasses, etc).
In order to facilitate operations of transport and assembly of the house the three boxes
are called to solve not only the structural, but also the functional and the environmental
performance of the house. Technical equipment, external envelope and internal
furnishing are in fact reduced to the compact dimension of 340 x 135 cm) (Fig.3).
Each box is characterized by a total integration of structural frame and technical
equipment: vertical connections have been realized in correspondence of the pillars,
horizontal ducts are distributed all along the beams. Ventilation ducts, plumbing and
electric cables are thus potentially able to reach any point of the plan enhancing its
flexibility. This ensures a homogeneous distribution of the technical system all around
the plan, thus the possibility of locating any kind of space or system in any point of the
house (not only living room or bedroom but also bathroom, kitchen and even the
technical room can be freely arranged in the plan).
